Backpacking partner wanted

I am looking for a partner to go on longer backpacking trips (say, 2 or 3 nights). You can view my profile for more info about me. I like to go places where I can set up a base camp the first day, stay over night, then screw around with side trips the next day or two, then hike out. I try to travel lightly... actually around 15 lbs before water. Naturally, going places with a water source are preferred. I just did Hellsgate trail (report and photos pending), which was great because one could take a stream-swimming, rock-hopping side trip through the Haigler creek canyon... or the Tonto creek also. As well, one could take several hiking side trips - pretty neat place down there in the canyon! To me, this is the best of all worlds... carry your pack in and out, and suffer the load. But spend a couple days in the wilderness to blow the mental cylinders out... sleep under the stars, that kind of thing. Gives one time for enjoyment, tequila drinking or whatever. Write back if you are interested in exploring the "fitability" of joining me sometime. Neil

I'd be interested in hiking with you. I am also a lightweight hiker and prefer backpacking trips when its possible. I usually hike very long distances each day, to get away from the crowds and to be able to explore more remote areas. My trail descriptions will give you some idea of the type of hikes I usually do. However, I've also done basecamp hikes and enjoy those too.
Send me a personal message next time you're planning a hike and maybe we'll figure something out.

Lizard,
I sent you a personal email regarding a backpacking trip. Just wanted you to know in case you cannot access it for some reason. Let me know if you received the email from me or not. Would love to look into doing a backpacking trip sometime relatively soon. Let me know your thoughts. Neil

Glad you made it to Hellsgate. Pretty awesome place. I have a few trips planned for the next two months. West Clear Creek, a trip to Colo. and I'd really like to make it to the groups West Fork journey. If anything comes into play after mid July let me know.

Have backpack, will travel. I am up for going most anywhere with reasonable notice. I as well as many others here enjoy the wild and less traveled routes, in fact , prefer it. I have no problem adjusting to the elements either. HAZ tuff, well at least that what Hooli says. If anyone from this thread wants to get together, I am good company (at least I think I am, LOL)

Since we are all talking about a night or two with the pack....
I realize it's VERY short notice--sorry---but if anyone would like to; I am going tomorrow (Friday, May 17) for an over nighter to Reavis Ranch. Going to pack in from the Rogers Trough TH. Spend the day peekin' around--maybe Circle Stone or the trickle called Reavis Falls. We'll be coming back Saturday. I have room in my truck to get you there if anyone else from this thread is interested.
I have hiked with some of our HAZ members before (Picacho); and had a great time. Cakewalk, Olesma, Uvamp and snow22_5150 are the HAZ members I hiked with at Picacho. I'd like to meet more hikin' freeeks
Again I apologize for the short notice....I will check here tonight. Feel free to e-mail as well.

Good choice, Higgs! When GTG, Fritzski and I did that as a day hike a couple of months ago we saw many excellent spots to set up a camp. Have a great time!

Thanx Hooli!! Gotta try my new grub(Mountain House--M & C). Also got a new pack a month ago--weighted it--humped it around the woods for a day then took it to the seamstress; we'll see if it's more user friendly....
Y' all place nice on the trails this weekend

Is that the one with the little pieces of beef in it? If so, it's pretty good. I took one on my Ridgeline trip last November.

Good luck Chiggs... I wish I could join you but work has me in a sling for several more weeks straight. Then I am free to explore for a few days. I'm planning a two maybe three night gig with coaster, so you may want to join us. Somepoint in early June is the plan. Hell's hole is a tentative destination. I think I have my pack, food and water included, down to less than 20 lbs!
Grand Canyon / Zion?

As Neil said, we're planning a few nights at Hell's hole. If anyone's
interested let me/us know. Most likely the weekend of the 24 or 31st.
On a similar note, is anyone interested in a Grand Canyon or Zion trip?
I've done part of the West Rim in Zion twice (to Potatoe Hollow) and would
like to do the full 13 miles to Lava Point. I'd also like to to the full
2-day Virgin Narrows.
Same for GC. I've done the Tanner/Escalante route, as well as Grandview/Horseshow mesa loop and would like to do something along
the Tonto. Or maybe a rim to rim (or rim to rim to rim) hike.
Any takers?

May or June?

Good morning guys--made it back from Reavis, only did it last night in the dark. Just wanted to take a little test. Gotta say it can be creepy by yourself in the dark 8O
Neal & Coaster--This Hells Gate thing; I'm confused by the dates. Is it June or May? I was up at Tonto Narrows the other day and wondering what route into Hellsgate y'all are thinkin' to use....
Oh! Mike
M & C neat was great!! Lasagne well, no so great.
