While there are no garuntees, and you should always plan to have enough water to get you back to your starting point if there is no water available, there is almost always water at the ranch.

With the conditions right now, the best place to find water in the desert is to take it with you.

As you will not be going to Reavis Ranch when you hike to Reavis Falls cache water along the trail for your return trip. Do this in at least three different places and do not rely on all three being safe from animals or humans. There should be water at the falls this time of year but don't expect a lot of flow as we are still in a drought.

It's a little to hot to hike or backpack into this area this time of the year in daylight. Start your hike in and out about 2 am in the morning and it will be quite enjoyable. Track your route and waypoint your water drops with your GPS as you go in and use that information to lead you on the way out.

Have fun. This trail is quite easy to follow even in the dark.
