Red Rock District Sedona area

Trails and Areas Closed 08/2/06 These trails are STILL closed:
Brins Mesa
Jim Thompson
Cibola
Jordan
Soldier Pass (not the Jeep Road)
Vultee Arch
Sterling Pass
Wilson Canyon
Wilson Mountain
North Wilson

Trailheads beyond the Devils Bridge Trailhead on FR152 are closed, because FR152 is closed, due to damage from heavy water flows (Secret Canyon, Dry Creek, and Bear Sign Trails are open and may be accessible on foot).

Jack’s Canyon is open, but visitors need to stay on the trail. Not recommended for equestrians at this time.
Hot Loop is open.
Bear Mountain is open, but be aware of dangerous road conditions.

Brins Fire area, north of Sedona and along Oak Creek Canyon.

Boynton Pass Road (FR152C) is open but suggested for high clearance vehicles only - expect delays and debris from contruction. Use FR152C instead.

Highway 89A is open, but the area on either side of the highway between Midgley Bridge and Slide Rock State Park is closed (except for Grasshopper Point, which is open).

Slide Rock State Park is open.

Manzanita Campground, Encinoso Day-Use Picnic Area and the Oak Creek Visitor Center at Indian Gardens are closed.

This closure and public safety alert will remain in place during the monsoon season given the potential for rock and debris slides from the Brins fire area. Individuals traveling through Oak Creek Canyon need to be aware of dangerous rock and debris slides during significant monsoon rains (1/2 inch or greater). More information on Brins Fire BAER page.
