I am interested in doing some hikes and progress towards more. I am a beginer so I am not sure I can do up hills or long hikes just yet. I have asthma, but would bring my inhaler
If you are interested, let me know what days and times work for you and let's see if we can do something. I live in Mesa. I like to do photography as I hike.

Check out Arizona Outdoor Travel Club.

Look at the "C" or "D" Level hikes to begin with. "C D" hikes are 2-6 miles with 400-800ft elevation gain. Call the hike leader and discuss. There is a $5 charge for non-members but it can be applied towards annual $25 membership. I figure that my gas saved is much more than the annual membership.

In response to yoadrienneaz's reply:
If you want to try some day hikes in Cochise County, just get in touch with us. I know that is a bit far from Mesa, but when the weather starts warming up in that area, it is still quite cool down here. My wife and I and one of my female Search and Rescue team members have been taking somewhat regular day hikes and plan on doing as many as we can next year. We are more than happy to have someone else along.

I also am looking for a hiking / walking buddy -- and am not in good condition so need to start small.
Were you able to find a group for such as us?

Arizona Outdoor Travel Club often has some hikes you could do.
I notice this hike this weekend in your general area:
Saturday, February 3 – Beverly Canyon Loop Hike
RATING: C LENGTH: 3+ mi ELEV GAIN: 300 ft PACE: Leisurely
LEADER: Howard Shapiro 480 962-9321
Meet at 9:30 am (depart 9:45) at the SE corner of Fry’s Electronics parking lot, on Baseline west of I-10. Starting with the Beverly Canyon Trail we will follow parts of the Pima East, West and Ridge Line Trails, returning to our starting point. Bring water and snack. Call leader to verify the hike has not been canceled. Cost to non members is $5. Children welcome.
Call the leader if you are considering this hike. The $5 applies to the $25 annual membership if you join the club.

Hi
I am leading some fairly easy hikes this spring for the Sierra Club and if you cannot keep up, you will not be lost because the trails are really safe.

yoadrienneaz,
have U found someone / a group to walk with?
I live in gilbert and am looking for a fellow "out-of-shape" walker -- more a walker than a hiker, at this point.
