Just curious to hear if anyone else is using GoLite equipment or backpacking light? I have had a GoLite Team pack for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it! Although it is not possible to go extremely light on all backpacking trips, I find carrying a light pack very enjoyable.

I am a 12 time veteran of Havasupai and I carry an extremely light pack when I go there now. For a 3 day, 2 night trip my pack weight including water is probably somewhere around 18 pounds which basically allows me to run in if needed.

Well, lets hear those golite stories!

I own a Golite Breeze pack I've used on three trips. The lack of a hipbelt bothered me after a bit, so I switched to a ULA P-2, which I love (and of course, its no longer available. The ULA Catalyst seems roughly equivalent).

I've traveled in a lightweight and sometimes ultralight fashion for the last several years. Despite this, other than the pack which I received as a gift, I use no Golite gear. While I like their stuff, I've found the items offered by cottage manufacturers to be more suited to my needs.

My base weight these days is ~12 lbs. Sometimes a bit less or more.

the Golite Jam is what started the light pack lifestyle for me. I still have it, but my wife uses it now. After owning several internal frame bell and whistle packs that had so much "flair" she still stands by her decision that the Jam pack is the most comfortable. Im using one of ( dead link removed ) for summer and the Granite Gear Virga for winter.

Golite makes some great clothing too. Just ask Ryan.

I've got the GoLite Tarp/Poncho, and the Ether (3 oz windshirt). Both are very well made, the tarp/poncho is sized just right for laying down, and not much else (kept me dry in a 3 hour rain in Colorado) and I wore the water "resistant" ether in a constant sprinkle up by the mogollon rim for a couple of hours and was completely comfortable. They make some good stuff.

I've been looking at the ether. Been trying to cut the weight out of my clothes lately. Found it on closeout one time and ordered one and then got a call saying they didn't have any in stock anymore.

I'll keep looking.

I just purchased a Go-lite rain jacket, breathable fabric, from Sierra Trading post--got a pretty good deal on it I guess. Haven't used it yet, but it seems really nice, and very well made. Has the pit zippers, etc.

I use to have a GoLite Infinity pack and liked it alright but it ended up breaking on me. My summer/ short trip pack is now a GoLite Jam Pack. I've seen Mike use his for a couple years and had to get one of my own. Great pack indeed. Perfect combo between lightweight and durability. I also have an older fleece called the java jacket I think. I love it. Its starting to get worn out now though.

Anyone seen GoLite's new trailrunners? They look crazy cool.

You should keep waiting, the next series of ether's will come with a full zipper, with hardly any wait increase. The short zipper seems to be the critics only complaint of the ether, but it doenst bother me any.
