What bird is this?

Anyone know what bird this is? I talk to them when hiking a lot (they are really loud), and they like to perch outside my study window on the cactus :) Drives my cat crazy.

Looks like it might be a curve-billed thrasher. Heavy-bodied bird, sounds like "whip whip?" or "wheet wheet?", digs in the dirt with its beak?
