3/18/07 Superstition Peak 5057 from Carney Springs/Lost Gold

I'm planning to hike up to Superstition Peak 5057 on 3/18/07, if anyone is interested. I would like to get a fairly early start, maybe leave my house in Mesa at 6am and do an out and back from Carney Springs TH. My understanding is that TH is now closed, so I'll probably start over from the Lost Goldmine TH or Peralta. Any info or advice that anyone can give on where to park now that Carney Springs is closed would be greatly appreciated.
Let me know if you're interested. I suggest meeting somewhere by Power Rd. and Rt. 60. Hopefully the weather by that time of year should cooperate both in terms of precip and temp. Hopefully, anyway.

I may join you on this if I'm not backpacking with another group. I have tentative plans already. I'll let you know.

The cherry-stem road to Carney is all that's closed - it was pretty rough anyway, you can likely hike it almost as fast as drive - it's about a mile from the Peralta Rd. to the old T/H. It would likely make sense to merely park near the intersection, or worst case in the horse lot near Peralta.
re. your meeting place near 60 & power - We often meet in the south end of the Home Depot Lot @ SEC 60 & Power - lots of room to park & never an issue with unattended vehicles being disturbed, ever. (knock on wood).

I'm interested... I'll know for sure within a week of the hike. It'll be a year since I did the ridgeline and 3 years since I did the out-and-back from Carney T/H so I'm about due.
As mentioned, we can still park just off the Peralta road, just not right by the trailhead.
I live a few miles from the Home Depot @Power/SS Boulevard (1st light south of the 60) so that works as a meeting place. Having met there a number of times before I can attest for no problems leaving a vehicle there.

I'm about 5 minutes from the Power road Home Depot. The morning of 3/18 should work. I've gone up this trail from Lost Goldmine TH in the past but just traveled the Ridgeline trail so the summit would be great.

I did the entire ridgeline 4 years ago but didnt have time to go to the peak since we dawdled too long at the flatiron and daylight became an issue. I remember seeing the trail that goes up there so I always have that in my head as on a "to do" list to hike up there. every time I drive by and see the mountain I look at the peak and see something unfinished.
So it looks like Home Depot will be the meeting spot. 3 weeks and counting.

Whoops...
When I saw this posted I never bothered to look at a calendar and for some reason thought it was on Saturday. I can't make it on Sunday so I'll have to pass on this one.
Another time...

In response to Stiller's reply:
Did the Ridgeline on 1/1/2007. Parking for Carney Springs is now at the end of Carney Springs road where there is a visible barrier but you can park several cars right there. Then you hike an extra 0.6 miles on the road to get to where we used to start the hikes before.

In response to gpsjoe's reply:
Thank you. I wasnt sure if there was room to park there or if I would need to park over towards the Peralta TH and add even more to the hike. 1.2 miles on a flat grade shouldnt be too much at all. I just hope the weather doesnt get any warmer by then. Although I would imagine its going to be much cooler and windier up on the ridgeline.
4 days away

Just bumping this up a few days prior in case anyone else is interested. PM me your contact info (cell phone) if I don't have it already in case we get mixed up on meeting that morning (6am Home Depot parking lot at Power Rd. and Rt. 60). See you then.
