3/23/2007 - Reavis Ranch 109 north as a day hike

My friend is dropping by to visit from out of town and wants to do a challenging hike, so I'm going to be doing this with him as a day hike. We're gonna leave my place in Mesa at 4am hoping to start hiking at around 6am. I'm also going to include the parallel section of the frog Tanks Trail via plow saddle. I've been to the ranch before, so my main interest is just to get to the trail junction with the Reavis Gap trail and then head back. it might only save 0.8 miles, but for a hike this long, that might make a difference. This will be my first time doing this trail. I'll be taking the day off work on Friday for this, so I figured I'd make it an event.

In response to Stiller's reply:

20 miles makes a challenging day hike for sure, but we found only fatigue made the trail difficult. Seems like an awful long way to come without seeing the ruins.

Good luck!

I've been there twice before, so I've seen pretty much all there is to see. I dont know that I would call that "ruins", at least in the way Indian ruins are ruins. It was a nice hike though. My GPS and my computer after I downloaded the track said the total distance was only 17.9 miles.

If you were up here, I'd recommend Keet Seel as a challenging dayhike. Oh well...
