Coconino Forest Roads still closed as of 3/26

The following roads are closed except for the ones in red which were recently opened:
FR 151 (Hart Prairie Road),
FR 418 (the road behind the Peaks),
FR 420 (Schultz Pass from Hwy 89),
FR 522 (Freidlein Prairie Road),
FR 552 (Lockett Meadow Road),
FR 556 (Little Elden Springs Horsecamp Road),
FR 557 (Elden Lookout Road),
FR 222 and 522B (Wing Mountain),
FR 794 (Dog Sled Road, between each end of the FR 151 loop),
FR 171 to Lava River Cave
FR 247 (just south of the road to Lava River Cave)
FR 245 (Lava River Cave)

FR 193 (to Crowley Park - not to be confused with Crowley Pit)
FR 514 (road to Kendrick Cabin)
FR 128 (I-40 to Marshall Lake)
FR 760 (just north of Crowley Pit)
All roads off of Hwy 89a from Ft. Tuthill to Oak Creek Canyon including FR 237

Woody Mountain Road (FR 231) closed at the Arboretum.

All roads off of I-17 above the Rim entering the forest are closed.
These include, FR 700, FR 237, Kelly Canyon Exit (FR 631), Newman park Exit (FR 253), Willard Springs Road (FR 253B), Pinewood (FR 240), Rocky Park Exit (FR 80), FR 226 (opposite of Schnebly Hill Road), Fox Ranch Exit (FR 126 and FR 125).
Schnebly Hill Road (FR 153) is open all the way to Hwy 179. Side roads off Schnebly Hill Rd are still closed.

FR 6064D at Campbell Avenue is closed.

The following roads off of Lake Mary Road are closed:

FR 720 (Skunk Canyon), FR 9478B, FR 132 & 132D, FR 132 & 90, FR 219 & 90, FR 124, FR 125, FR 91 (Bear Park), FR 240 @ 90.

FR 129A-Anderson Mesa by observatory; along the I-40 corridor - FR 519, FR 518, & FR 222A; FR 303-North of Walnut Canyon.

What is the reason for the closures? Snow?

Thanks for the info leving thursday evening for a vehicle camping trip on the Tonto, desert setting. In three weeks pln on camping along the Rim, NE of Payson or East of Payson follwed by a camping trip to the upper verde valley two weeks after the Rim trip. Looking forward to out on the Coconino in May if not sooner. Do you know the location of the new telescope they are building ?

In response to Nighthiker's reply: Yep the new telescope is very near the Happy Jack Ranger station. They have a sign up there that says Discovery Channel Telescope. http://www.lowell.edu/DCT/html/overview.html

In response to Hoffmaster's reply: they close all those roads in the winter for snow and mud. they don't what the roads all tore up and have to dig people out.
