7-10 day mid November trip suggestions

A couple of friends and I are planning on heading out to AZ this fall for a 7-10 day trip. We work in the White Mtns of NH and are pretty experienced backpackers, but we don't know where to go. One of us lived in Tucson for several years and knows the terrain around there well but would like to try something new. I've never been to Arizona. Where should we go?

Personally I would go to the grand canyon. Head down the Tanner trail to the river. Then across the Escalante Route until it hits the tonto trail. Then across the tonto trail to S. Kaibab, Bright Angel or even Hermit.

Tim's suggestion of course is outstanding. You cant go wrong with Grand Canyon.
a not too distant second place is something like the
Trans Superstition Wilderness Hike and its easier to aquire permits (as none are needed)
we are doing this hike in a few weeks so you can look forward to trip reports- however being your first time out there it would be more feasible to stretch a trip like this over 7 days. You can access both trailheads with a car but you will need a shuttle, or a chauffer.
