Hey, anyone heard of the Arizona "20-20 Challenge"? It is found at az2020 The gist is to hike the 20 highest peaks and 20 deepest canyons in the state.

Here's how we selected the forty most challenging hikes in the state for Arizona's 20-20 Challenge: All canyons and summits in the state are identified by processing digital elevation models (digital topographic maps) in a geographic information system. From this list, we drop all canyons and summits that do not have trails, are located in environmentally protected land, or in some cases, are on private land. Next, the peak and canyon hikes must pass our challenging set of geomorphic, geometric, proximity, altitude, and/or trail length criteria. The remainder is forty truly challenging hikes!

HAZ contributed to several ASU class projects without credit.

Also saw on epeakregister that there is a thing that can track your peak climbs...and for Arizona, in addition to this "20-20 challenge" it includes the ability to track all the peaks over 9000 ft (it lists 73 of them). Might be a neat thing to add in to HAZ one day perhaps?? Or maybe another would be tracking progress on hiking all of the pieces of the Arizona Trail?? Cool...

think you're simply missing the / slash in the closing tag, should be GPS units you just put batteries in them and the do all the work

I was curious looking back on the projects myself but we're talking a gazillion e-mails ago.

With respect to the peaks only, completers are shown at http://peakbagger.com/FRL.aspx?lid=5015&pt=prom

The legendary Bob Packard completed this peak list in 1997, almost surely "by accident".
Mark Nichols has likely also completed, but not listed all his peaks on peakbagger.com yet.
Bob Martin (deceased) almost completed the peak list by accident, but per listofjohn (pay $ite) is missing Sentinel Peak.
And yesterday I completed the peaks on Snowshed Peak - feet are pretty sore today
