overnight fishing trip to WCC

JUNE 28-29th
come all, and bring bait! I have a virgin fly rod that will hopefully land its first trout in the beautiful waters of West Clear Creek. We do an annual backpacking trip down Maxwell trail to the confluence, but this year Id like to shake things up and head down via Tramway trail into one of the most scenic little areas on the Rim. Plenty of trees for hammocking, and some flat spots and sites for the ones who havent yet converted :o

I believe this is the time of year when the wild grapes and raspberries are ripe. Bonus!

there may be rainstorms in the area, there are numerous cloud formations above the Rim, as seen from my house. Bring a tent of sorts.

Question. Will there be a mandatory stop at the Beeline Cafe for post-hike indulgences?

Already made plans next weekend, have a good time without me. Hope you can catch bigger ones than I got last year.

I can't go. I have to go to some sort of church class on Saturday for my upcoming wedding. :( If it's not blazing hot, I'm going to Groom Creek near Prescott on Sunday to go climbing. Darn. This sounds like a lot of fun!

nice! I know you will surprise us with some wonderful photos.

absolutely. chocolate malts will flow.

as usual, ya'll can meet at my place which is safe to park overnight- and we'll carpool from here. I just re-charged my A/C system (how do you like that, steve!) Andrew, I have 3 hammocks now so you can try one if you like. Anyone have a small light fry pan? such as a evernew coated 8" skillet or should I buy one?
(even a dollar store skillet, minus handle is perfect)

I might be down. Let me talk to the wife and see if I can sneak out for the weekend (I have been gone nearly every weekend for 2 months...she starting to make "comments").

Is it a fly fishing only area, or can I bring the spinning setup?

What's the backpacking like? Are you hiking in to camp, or is it more car camping?

well, it is a really short .5 mile hike. bring some great food and a couple luxuries (camp chair, fishing rig, nice camera, etc..)
we usually hike in on Maxwell and go upstream .25 mile but down near Tramway there are available camps. Of course you, me and Andrew will be hanging so flat spots are a non-issue.

well, you could take some notes... :wrt: but... after snagging on rocks, weeds, trees, suffering a fly in your ear, loosing half of your tackle box, breaking a leader every other cast, falling in frigid water, pulling leaches out of your underwear, you might just want to give up and use dynamite.

Ok, I'm in...with my puppy Topo. He is 4 months old, and a super mega short hike is the perfect way to break him in. I can also see how he does sleeping under my hammock all night on his own.

What's the car pool deal looking like, is there room with someone for me and Topo, or would you guys like me to drive and we can split the fuel bill? I have more than enough room in and on my 4Runner for 4 people and gear...and Topo of course.

I'm stoked! I haven't had a pack on in several months, and I haven't been fishing in a long time! -DIRT

He'll be fine....or I'll be dragging a 20 lb. border collie up a hill. Either way we'll get his butt back to the car.

dude, people dont drag border collies. Border collies drag people.
So I can drive, split the gas, theres still room for 2 more.
if the turnout is really good, and we take more than one vehicle, we could always to a Tramway/Maxwell loop. :D
