Im Looking for some good hikes in the Showlow,pinetop are were going to be up there for a week.

Recommend stopping by the Lakeside Ranger office, pick up info. Open only on weekdays, I think. Lots of hikes around there.

In Pinetop, Bucksprings Rd. to Sky hi road, there are a couple trailheads easy to find, with signs by the road--Springs Trail, Country Club Trail.

Take Porter Mtn. Rd. in Lakeside, there are a couple trailheads back in there--Timber Mesa Trail, Panorama Trail. Signs by the road, also, showing a picture of hikers.

If you drive over to Greer, many trails lead right out of that area, also. But there are a couple hundred miles of trail right around Show Low, Lakeside and Pinetop.

Since HAZ doesn't allow direct links, you can search for the White Mountain Independent newspaper's website. There are some trail directions on there, too.

NIce list, but only a very few of them are really close to Pinetop, however. There are many trails around that area that haven't been put onto HAZ. All the trails you put are very good, though, not complaining, but for example, it's a quite a ways to Chevelon or Petrified Forest (too hot there right now, anyway.) I'm assuming this person has already driven all the way up from the Valley and doesn't want to have to drive yet another hour and a half to go hiking.

My list of trails VERY close to PT would be: Springs Trail, Country Club Trail, Four Springs Trail, Los Burros Trail, Timber Mesa Trail, Panorama Trail, Buena Vista Trail, Blue Ridge Trail, Ice Cave Trail.

I will be in the Los Burros area, but not on the trail, taking pictures of various curiosities on Sunday. This post benefits no one; I just thought I'd throw that useless bit of info out there.

I've mtn. biked Los Burros a couple of times. It's a nice trail. Pretty oaks in the woods around there.

Any restaurant or hotel warnings / recommendations for up there?

La Casita on 260 (I think???) between Show Low and PineTop is the same family as Mammoth and Globe. Food is slightly different, but comparable. By the way, Casa Reynoso on Mill Ave in Tempe is also the same family if you have ever been there.

Yeah, wife will be out of town for our oldest's birthday, so I figured I would knock a half dozen hikes off my wish list. Going to do a bunch of short ones in the area ...

Huh?

What do you mean, "huh?" It has been raining so much that the local hiking club has cancelled some hikes and bike rides this week, due to excessive muddiness. It has been raining so much that today there were flash floods in Alpine, and a few other areas.

I'm hoping to have the yard sale to end all yard sales this coming Saturday, so I hope that we have a dry morning here in Eagar. I usually close up my yard sales by around 11 or noon. Hummels, anyone? China cabinets? Twin beds? Etc. etc.
