labor day plans (backpacking)

I was thinking of taking some of my family around to the high country, or GC but that might not be set in stone, so I may have Labor Day weekend to play.
Does anyone have a 3 day backpack in the works?
I am trying to stay above 7000' or so to enjoy some cool weather. Wht. Mountains? Should I just finish the mormon lake section of the AZT (about 45 miles?)
just wondering if anyone has a thought on doing a long, cool hike this time

You might convince me depending on your route, I love the whites but Dunno how you could pull together a 40+mile loop in the area, and stay above 7000 for the length of the trip: maybe drop down to Hannah Hotsprings via Rose Peak to Fritz ranch, do a bit of cross country and come back up the blue drainage? That actually sounds pretty nice

what if... go into the Hardscrabble area down to LF ranch/Doll Baby ranch and then cross country canyoneer (non-technical i hope) down the E. Verde river, then back to the Twin Buttes trailhead.
we talked about that one on Tramway.

and be sure to read
HAZ Hikebot's trip report of the E. Verde from Doll Baby to the Verde. Good times!

it looks like the barnhardt might turn into an all-day loop using Barnhardt and Sandy Saddle trails. see the description, and I will lead this hike if anyone else wants to join in. Ive done it twice.
