Suggestions for backpacking in Sedona?

For a while now I have really wanted to soak in the whole Sedona experience, but I'm very unfamiliar with the area. I want to do an overnighter there probably sometime in the beginning of Feb. Anybody have some suggestions for some good loops or whatnot. I can easily do something that's 20-25 miles RT with good elevation change and even more if there isn't much elevation change.

personally I would ditch the "sedona experience" in favor of the much better "sycamore experience" and do the Taylor cabin/doney trail or Sycamore 63 or even the Sycamore Rim loop. Parson's spring is a nice, but short hike too.

Ya I'll have to look into some Sycamore area stuff too. I just want to see what all the Ley Line hype is all about I guess : P

I have to agree with Mike. Do Taylor Cabin. That is an awesome hike/backpack.

I'd have to say that Sedona isn't extremely conductive to backpacking...more short day hikes....especially this time of year with the upper elevations being locked up with snow. Sycamore is much better for backpacking, but don't skip Sedona either...its just more of a day trip type of thing!

Aight then.....ya I kinda got that idea from the average millage of the trails I looked up in the Sedona area. Perhaps I can car camp at a trailhead and hit up 2 or 3 trails over a weekend. I guess I will be planning a Taylor Cabin trip soon then. Thanks guys : )

The Hot Loop Jacks Canyon is a pretty decent loop... its about 15 mi.

I have done it in a day, but being able to stretch that into 2 would be ideal, and it changes elevation quite a bit so you dont have to camp in the snow.
