Mt Humphrey's 2/20?

Anyone interested in a Mt Humphrey's ascent on 2/20 or that weekend? Or know of a local group that might be going up?

That weekend? I probably will climb unless the weather is poor. I work (when I can) so the 21st is better. We just got 3 feet on the mountain with more in the 7 day forecast, so we should have an excellent base to climb in. Snowshoes are a must, do you have crampons or an ice ax? I use this route, or a variation of it that takes a steeper path to practice cramponing.

There are no local groups that I know of which regularly climb Humphrey. As far as I know there are no mountaineering groups in the area, and the local Flagstaff "outdoor club" on yahoo groups is a lame, do nothing group. Its active members apparently thought I did Humphrey too much and most of the people in the group had never even been up there. Some considered it too hard and others were actually afraid of it, if you can believe that! Its really more of a 40 something drinking club that car camps twice a year. Sorry, the "group" part of the post triggered that response.

Too funny about the "group" blurb. I know what you mean about folks who just talk about what they are going to do over a beverage or two. Me, I would rather talk about what I just saw or did over a beverage or two.
My schedule is pretty flexible so 2/21 would work. I actually found this site via your posts. I have and used crampons and ice axe but not snowshoes. I can pick some up over the weekend though. It has been pouring here in Southern California so I am sure there is more snow heading your way.

If you plan to buy a pair, I recommend ones with a heel elevator. MSR makes some good ones. Expensive, though.

Not wanted to post a new thread and no, I am not going to do this Peak this winter (unsure if I'll hike Humphrey in the coming spring dry season), but I am wondering if anyone has plans to do it with what remains of the winter? By either route, too. Snowbowl has posted some relatively good totals lately, and even though things were bleak a month ago, it may not be now, so I'm also just wondering what thing look like out there. Anyone?
