I checked on that last week and was advised that Canyon Creek is sterile because of ash. The fish hatchery was not damaged by fire and the water supply was used for fire suppression impacting the fish. Airplane Flats was not damaged by fire, near by Valentine Ridge was damaged by the fire, western fire line. Further South near the jct. of forest road R22 and AZ 88 this was also the anchor for a fire line.

Unfortunately I can answer the later...

All the forest except some of the Kaibab are closed

Unless I missed something! Hard to tell as all the FED sites are down.

So I am still curious if anyone knows if the campgrounds in Canyon Creek are open? If they are I am sure they are full. Airplane flats in particular. My family goes there every year for a reunion on the first weekend of August. Maybe not this year though :(

My contacts with AZ Game and Fish and the forest service informed me they drove to the Canyon Creek Fish Hatchery via AZ 288 (forest road 512) and forest road 33. I asked about the condition of Airplane Flats and I was advised the fire reached Valentine Ridge (SE of Airplane Flats) and the OW Ranch ( NE of Airplane Flats).
