I drive far out there.
Finally alone, at peace.
$#!+, my truck is stuck.

Monsoon rain on rocks,
Vibram sole meets wet lichen.
Now I need stitches.

not just a book, a life goal
is where I find peace

I just re-read Desert Solitaire recently. Love the story of the moon-eyed horse

Nice, but when I think of haikus, I think short. A series of haikus seems to defeat the purpose of a haiku; distilling a broad experience into a concise three-line packet.

I love the haiku
Five then seven five moras
Let's get it right folks
Sorry, had to do it! I wrote a haiku for my fantasy football message board, but I won't repeat it here because we're all respectable people.
[edit: I misspelled "haiku"]

Umbrella hikes are a
Sentimental Journey to
your inner most blank
Look for an answer
This is a Indian
If only I could

Drank too much Yeungling
Nasty Primanti sandwich
Dammn I hate Pittsburgh
Frankie's Cheesesteaks rules
Drank too much beer in the heat
Long day in Tucson
Blissful autumn here
Red maples and gold aspens
God bless the pigskin

Wally is no man
Sarah Connor is his prey
Skynet makes him hike
Sasquatch led the way
Showed me what he loves the most
Mostly loves donuts
I PM all day
Never get any response
Hikebot must hate me

Hike like a death march
Bayonet is at my back
Thanks for the hike Bob
Tough hike going up
Even rougher coming down
My ACL hurts
