Kayak Partner

I have a new project, which is kayaking parts of Arizona Rivers, right now it's the Gila. It's not terribly high on the list but looking for a partner---with their own boat, etc---for mainly shuttle needs. The area I am looking at is putting in at the old Safford Bridge near Clifton and taking out at Dry Canyon. It's a long day run, I forget how many miles. If you go to YouTube there are a couple of videos of this section, it's mostly flat water with a couple of Class 2 rapids.
I plan on running another easy part of the Gila this weekend to try to better my non existent river skills.
I don't have any firm dates in mind; just seeing if there is any interest.

I am also not opposed to doing a camp and some hiking off the river.

My husband and I have boats and might be interested in bettering our skills as well. Always love the Gila, and we're based in Tucson as well. Looking for more water-based adventures. Keep us informed!

No kayak, yet, just a raft. Maybe in the future.

with enough lead time to fit it into the schedule I'd be interested in doing a bit of kayaking again... many years ago, in another lifetime, I used to teach white water kayaking out in California. I think there are still a couple old boats lying around. Next spring I will be boating to get ready for the Texas Water Safari... a long distance boating challenge I did way back in the early 80's... I'd be up for some river time in February thru May.

Have fun with that...

I do not have a kayak, I have an alpacka packraft but I would be up for a day run or even overnight run of the gila. I am currently unemployed so anytime is good for me. I will be leaving town though on 7-7-09 to head to Washington state for about 2.5 weeks. I have a 4wd xtra cab tacoma that can fit a few boats in the back and am located in Tucson.

I know I’m year late; your post was in June of 2009, now it’s June 2010. I just got my kayak and I’m looking for someone to kayak and share shuttle with. Please PM me if you have any trips planned.

Google: Southern Arizona Paddlers Club. They seem to do a lot of trips, and mostly fun, fairly easy, recreational stuff. And, they don't seem to be so hard-core that you would have to go to kayaking school in order to join them.
