well seeing that this one died previously because of scheduling between various parties... i thought it might make sense to try to plan this one early and knock it out in the fall. anyone still interested?

October and November seem like the months most likely to work.

The timing might be OK for me. Mid-late November is better.

I'll be in the Canyon in mid October, if it's late-late Oct, or Nov I could very well be down for it. This going Sutherland or up Romero to Lemmon?

don't care, i imagine we'll get enough takers that we can re-convene and select one.

I like the sound of "Death March"! I've not been to the catalinas so I have no preference. I'll wait to hear a date but I will have some conflicts in October.

It might have been Nick who coined the hiking "death march" moniker...

Okay after doing the Pumpkin/bull basin loop. I though a good warmup for this death march would be go up Kendrick trail then down Bull Basin then backup Pumpkin and down Kendrick... as a day hike. Lots of miles(about 20) and elevation gain(close to 6k) and altitude :) . Who's game ;) ?

I just want to do something some what comparable in terms of mileage and elevation before tackling Lemmon. Maybe in late Aug or early Sept.

6360 AEG? Allrightee!! Just check TrailDex, only 6 other hikes currently in HAZ for Arizona with a bigger AEG

BTW Joe, I just noticed that Box Spring Trail is listed as 6,720 AEG on a hike that's only 0.8 miles long. That would be SOME trip! :sl: Probably more like 150 ft AEG

Looks to be -900 & 157 AEG in the direction posted, I'll edit it. Perhaps Jeff was posting that stat from beginning of the hike and not just that leg?

yeah, maybe you're right. thanks joe. i'm thinking it was just the elevation figure for the end of the trail, which according to the HAZ hikebot post is about that elevation.

Bob, what about Barnhardt-Y Bar loop in the Mazatzals for a training hike? Or we could do Squaw Peak 6 times in a row?
