No doubt we have all heard or experienced first-hand the declining condition of one of our favorite areas, Fossil Springs. Many have suggested contacting the government or authorities to clean it up, but we all know how quick and efficient they can be! So lets get active, people! It's our space, lets clean it up ourselves, and perhaps inspire others to keep it clean as well, so we can all enjoy this beautiful wilderness.

This is an opportunity to make a positive impact AND get to know some of your fellow HAZers! (It will be a first meeting any of you for me!)

I am thinking a 2-night backpack, so we have one full day to clean, explore and play. August 7-9. Get to the area on Friday, hike in, set up camp, Saturday will be the main cleanup day, and head home Sunday. Anyone is welcome to come for both nights, or just one.

Please come and help try to restore this amazing area before they close it down or worse!

great idea! definitely interested, it would be my first time meeting any of y'all too... unfortunately I won't know for sure until a little closer to August.

Im also interested. Right now work is kinda off and on. But im 95% sure ill be there for a night or two. Anyone who needs a ride can carpool with me, or ill go with someone if theres room. Heck, ill even buy the trash bags!

What will the temps be that time of year?

Upper 90's? It was 94 down there last weekend when i was there. Probably upper 70's lower 80's at night give or take.

Is that labor day weekend? You'll not only meet other HAZ members, you'll meet half the state of AZ!

No, second weekend in August and my bday so I think I shall have to pass.. should be good weather though!

Labor Day in 2009 is on Monday, the 7th of September.

If the weekend before or after this would work better, I can move it. I kinda just picked that one out of a hat. I just need to be in town on the 20th.
If more of you would go on a different weekend, let me know! No one is confirmed yet, and I'm flexible. I'd like to make it open to as many as possible.

i'm up for this... i'll just do a single day hike out and back though... not much of a camper.

Yeah, like I told you in the "...Tempers Going" thread about the "catclaw Revenge" Event... lots of talk, very little action.
But, at least none of the organizers backed out of that one.
