On Saturday I'm going to Flag for the Highland games. Oh, you probably meant where am I hiking. On Sunday I think I'll hit the Peralta Loop. I need to get some miles under my feet. :)

Will the Fossil Springs wilderness be open? If so I think I'll take my children there. We always do a weekend there a few weeks before they go back to school. If not there then West Clear Creek. 8)

Escudilla!

Yup, we are heading to Escudilla Peak, south of Springerville. Spruce and Aspen, tall pines, cool breezes, 10,200 feet, hungry bears....

The fact that the original Los Dos Molinos restaurant in Springerville is open, and the two here in the valley are closed for the month has nothing to do with it.

Ah Cindy...You said it! Fossil or West clear creek sound really good right now. I am probably going to hit Fossil on my way to Mt. Humphreys.

First Hike since February

It could be more of a crawl than a hike, but I'm doing Deer Creek #46 from Mount Peeley down to the trail head. My back hurts, my leg hurts, and my throat is still on the mend. If I only make it halfway, it will be a tremendous accomplishment, (mentally).

Well good luck! Hope you can do it. Try not to breath too hard. You don't want to open up healing wounds.

We're headed up to Reno/Lake Tahoe for the 50th Anniversary of the Jeepers Jamboree. We will have some free time to hike into the wilderness inbetween 4x4 runs. After the 4x4 event we're sticking around for Hot August Nights. Looking forward to some cooler temps, even if it maybe only 10 degrees :)

Hey Snick, if you are heading down Deer Creek Trail from Mt. Peeley, how are you getting back to your car? That's a 14 miler round trip, seven of which is back up hill with a 2,000 foot elevation gain in 3 miles or so. I've done it an' it's a cardiac buster in one go!

A man in your conditon an' all!

My wife is dropping me off on Mount Peeley, and picking me up at the trailhead. I have a friend making the hike with me. He says he's the offical picker-upper, if there is a problem.

We took the quads up to the Clear Creek area today~ east of the Blue Ridge Resevoir (from Hwy. 87 turn east on FR95) and then hiked down Horse Crossing Trail. Saw a couple other hikes that had a car or two at the trailheads....Kinder Crossing Tr and one other I forgot the name of. Didn't find any notes on these trails here and was wondering if anyone has hiked these trails or this area. It was very cool, rainy and it felt so great to be up in those pines. Saw/smelt a small area where the fire burned. Very sad. But was soooo happy to see so much is still left for us to rejuvenate our spirits in.
