What the heck is UP?

I'm beginning to feel shunned. Some new guy is bringing up old posts and I notice that I'm at 89 posts in Feb and that's still where I'm at (ok, takes me a while to notice things). Then I'm replying to a thread by Cindy and I'm logged out and lose my well thoughtout post ~ !@#$#@%!#$%#, yea, that really PMO. Then I want to add Flatiron and First Water to my triplog and my comments with those dates on those trails are gone! So now, I'll mention something I was just gonna let slide, how come none of my pics are EVER at the bottom??? I know they aren't Glen's pics but they are certainly in the same catagory as some I've seen down there.

Poor poor pitiful me :( I mean, I know HAZ women are supposed to be tough and believe me I'm trying to keep a stiff upper lip. So I'll quite whinning and listen. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Maybe some helpful hints. If I get none, well then I'll take the big hint and hit the road.

Kelly

....second attempt to post this post, lets see if I get logged out or if it posts.

Hey, the number of posts went up. I get that now, so please ignore that little freak out. :lol:

I think "I" am that new guy. I didn't realize old posts were off limits and I sure didn't think the number of posts made you who you are in here and that it would make me look like I was scrambling for a higher "status". I guess I should of looked at the rules a little closer. :( Sorry. I was just writing to posts that caught my eye.

Hey Kelly, I think the photo thing is just sheer odds. You have 13 photos, so your chances are pretty slim. I have 178, but mine don't come up that often either. Contrast that to Teva, who has 1500+. So, the answer is... submit more photos!!

As for losing your postbecause you got logged out, I have a little tip (it's happened to me, too). Just before you submit your post, highlight your entire post (control-A on a windows machine, with the cursor inside the box) then copy it all (control-C). If you do get kicked off, all you have to do is log back on, head for that topic, hit the reply button, click inside the box and paste your message (control-V). I do this anytime I post something long. PHP (the scripting language the forum uses) has a session variable. If there's too much time between actions (clicking reply, reading a post, submitting an answer) the session may time out.

Crymzon, there's nothing wrong with posting on an old topic as long as you have something relevant to say. :) Welcome to HAZ, and thanks for your service to our country!

Sheesh....Mike does things the hard way! He's right...if you take a long time to type out your post, you may be timed out and kicked out. I've found the easiest thing is to copy a post before I hit submit; then, if I get timed out I just log back in, go to the topic I wanted to post to and paste my reply.

And Crymzon, welcome to HAZ...no problem with your posts.

Don't worry guys, it's none of you. This is my life story here, I simply have this effect on women... :lol:

Just when things seem settled and there's not a worry in the world. One day I'll be sitting on the couch and BOOM outta nowhere :lol:

What did Walt say today (so I know NEVER to say it :lol: )

Okay, okay... seriously. Ummm, you ain't going nowhere. Here I'll be the big doink. "Kelly PLEASE!!! stay"

Mike pretty much summed it all up.(excellent BTW) Here's some numbers on the photos, and the chance of getting displayed. BTW, Glen, doesn't have any photos in the database he just post them on the forum.

13 = 0.0003%
178 = 0.048%
1500 = 41%

But I'm gonna fix that, oh you'll be sorry :lol: Front page baby! :lol:

Lemme see what I can DIG up :lol:

As for pulling up old post, I would think that'd be a positive.

The missing comments. Now you're on to something. But rest assured it was not intentional or towards you. Cindy noticed she had a couple of Dianne Tuccillo's comments yesterday.

So one of two things happened.

Either there's a scripting conflict with the Wish List on my part.

Or you guys are just now noticing these things cause you haven't looked at your profiles in the past month. (When I added the Wish List I also added the abilty to easily view your own profile since that's where your Wish List is now. ) About 2-3 weeks ago I converted this entire site in the background.

Kelly give it to me straight.

I see photos on the Flatiron from you on 2002-02-03
There's a comment on the next day from your Alaskan friend but I don't see a comment from you.

First Water... maybe it's on the Black Mesa page? Cause there isn't really a "First Water" page unless you mean Fritz's "Upper First Water"

If that doesn't seem right lemme know and we'll figure it out

See, the squeaky wheel does get the attention, hehehehe. Thanks, I feel so much better. But I do owe Crymzon an apology, so here goes...."I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend and I personally have absolutely no problem with you checking out the whole site including old posts and I especially really like to hear from new folks." Apology accepted??? Hope so.

Joe, the life size photo is a bit embarrassing, but I guess I deserve it. At least now I know I'm loved and that if I start screaming ~ you'll listen :lol: I really couldn't find my Flatiron comments tho ~ I'll go check it out now.

Also, thanks Mike & Hoolie, I have learned from you wisdom 8)

What does status matter anyways? We aren't here so we can be a higher ranking post master, I like the post count so you can tell who actually takes part in the fun on a regular basis. This is still the best web site out there. I am glad to be a part of it.

Yes, Azscrapper your apology is accepted. Thank you and thanks for the warm welcome from everyone. I trluy do enjoy this site and get real sense of community from it, as well as a ton useful information. Hopefully one day I will be able to contribute as much information about Arizona's trails and outdoors to others as you do for me today.

Mike your welcome. It is not everyday people thank vets for what they have done. So I wanted to make sure that I said that, because it really means a lot to me. Thanks!!

The reason for that is I post actively on several other forums and don't want to suck up a lot of band width from here linking them to there. ImageStation can take that load as that is what kind of a site they are. Besides, I only post about one percent of the photos I take. Maybe less and that is not going to change. Now people like my sister will show you every single photo out of six thousand taken from a Europe trip even if one complains. :D I like photos but sometimes I wonder if she ever really sees anything other than through a ground glass viewfinder. I try to teach her the art of editing. :wink:

Kelly, you are loved girl. Don't sweat the software glitches. :) I know your reference to the old topics was just in relation to your number of posts not changing and nothing else. You weren't getting onto anyone. Hang in there and keep up the good work.

Hey Kelly, That's okay. We all need to lose it a little from time to time. Now don't you feel better? :D
