Hey Girls,
I know we all mentioned a girls hike last spring and I was wondering if anyone is ready to start planning a hike up in the cool country now that its open. I'll drive and can haul 4 plus myself. I don't have a great date yet but am working towards a Sat in August.
Let me know if your interested and what dates might work for you.

Kelly, I think that trail sounds great. Anything will be wonderful. Does anyone know how the water is there? Up Houston Mesa to Washington Park about a month ago the Verde was pretty dry.

If my daughter goes we have a car, if not I'll need to hitch a ride with someone.

It looks like to me the weekends of Aug 17th or 24th seem to be the top picks. I think camping would be great and am certainly in for that too! There were lots of places to camp and I don't mind one bit camping without a campfire if that rule is still in effect. Also there are lots of other trails in the vacinity if this trail's not enough for ya
So let me know your votes for one or the other, ok? This sounds like a great time.

Kinder crossing sounds great.I'd love to join you HAZgals, but I always work on Sat.(You know, haicolor, etc., gotta make everyone look good in Scottsdale)! Maybe if you ever have a Sun. hike,

.(or for those who can swing a Mon. off) keep me posted!!

Kinder crossing sounds great! Either the 17th or 24th will work for me, so it doesn't matter to me. Camping sounds wonderful!!!!

And ya know, if you set your lantern in the middle of the circle and stare at it long enough...with a little imagination (or a lot of beers!-

) it's almost like a campfire...

You all decide on the date and then my daughter and I can try to get it off. I can usually with advance notice get any days off but she needs to put it in in advance.

Alright then how about we shoot for Sat/Sun Aug. 24/25th. Hopefully that is far enough away that everyone can get that time off. We'll plan on taking the hike on Sun. 10 a.m. That way anyone who has to work on Sat can drive up Sat nite or Sun Morning. It should be a fun hike/day up/down to Clear Creek, then maybe dinner on the way home if there's anything open in Payson.
The girls that get there on Sat can maybe try out some of the other trails that day.

When you guys plan an all day hike (no camping) I will surely come! I would absolutely love to camp, but my hubby is only home on the weekends and we need that time for us. Wish I didn't have to miss this! Sounds like it would be a whole lot of fun!

I am definitely interested, though I work a lot of Saturdays and some Sundays. I get some weekdays off to compensate. How about some local day hikes? The Ballentine trail is a good one once it cools off a bit. Also the Pass Mountain Loop. I can't do any backpacking for another year or so as I had rotator cuff surgery and am not yet allowed to take a backpack. But I have a deluxe fanny pack for longer treks. I am also into hiking to Phantom Ranch if there is anyone who would like to plan a trip down there to stay in the dorms. Keep me posted as to what you all decide--I'd love to join you.

OK BIG CHANGE OF PLANS. We have changed our dates/times. Due to weirdos/wackos/freaks it has been suggested to me that we not post the GIRLS HIKE date/time on the web. Even tho everyone here knows I'm the chick that packs heat and that HAZ women are tough, its probably a good idea.
SO, I will PM everyone who has shown an interest here as to the new date and time. However, PLEASE, PM me if you would like to know the date/time so you could join us. I am really looking forward to getting out of the heat and hope you are too!
BTW, we will still be camping on Sat nite and hiking Sun a.m. so if you don't want to camp or can't get off work on Sat you can still come up on Sun. Just remember to PM me for the date/time.

Scrapper, you are an awesome cruise director. Thanks for putting some plans together...I was getting a bit lazy these past two months and am rip-roaring ready to hit any hiking I can in the upcoming months. I'll be there with bells on...(not really, I wouldnt want to scare the bears)..
