Snakemarks and I are trying to decide weather or not to follow through with our camping at Rustler Park & hopefully a short hike on Saturday and then hiking the Nat'l Monument on Sunday. We were hoping that maybe some of you who might live near that area could keep us posted on the weather conditions.

We are following the forecast provided on HAZ (50-60% chance of rain) but some of your input would be helpful. Right now we are inclined to go and just be prepared for ISOLATED thunderstorms anywhere we aren't.

Looks like all parts of Arizona are supposed to get hit with rain this weekend.

Looking at the models yesterday it appeared southern AZ had a much better chance of a lashing. Though I'd bet it'll still come in waves. Better in my opinion than an all out drizzly day.

You're probably apprehensive to take your new camera in the rain. On the other hand you might get some of the best photos ever!

Hiking in the rain - cool.
Camping in the rain - not so much.

But, I think we're gonna go for it. Wish us luck!

That part of southeastern AZ gets it worse than the rest of us and almost always gets rain when it's in the forecast; as opposed to us who rarely get it even if they say there is a 90% chance...

Yeah, I am ignoring their rain forecast the same way I always ignore the valley rain forecast.

Jeff or any of you Tucson & surrounding area folks, if you're up before 7 and it's raining, could you let me know... as that's about when I'll be loaded up and heading out the door -- but I'll check the forum first. Thank you.

Saturday 1:30 am: Currently, a few light sprinkles over the Chiricahua high peaks. Forecast is 60% chance of "heavy rain" after 11 am on Saturday.

You guys are killin' me. The humidity is up in the 80% area around Willcox but the forecast is not too shabby saying 30% chance of rain; which doesn't make sense as HAZ has 60% and 50% respectively.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west southwest. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. East northeast wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Labor Day: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. South wind around 5 mph.

Thanks Shawn and everyone. We opted for Plan B. It's such a beautiful area to hike so we would rather take a chance on better weather and really enjoy the environs without worrying about rain or mud or getting my camera wet....

Plus, whenever Kat and I have hiked, which has been quite a lot this past year, the weather has always been the very best so we'd like to keep our record in tact.

But now I have 3 days to fill.........guess I'll finish reading Bad Land and editing photos from the Chiricahuas & Cibecue hikes (so in a sense, I'll be hiking visually ) .
