If there is interest in this, and the weather is good (it probably will be) I can "lead" this if anyone wants to go. If not, I'll force myself to do Elden again, or not.

I've always wanted to climb that mountain, but won't it still be a little toasty in September? So it's all class 2-3 climbing if you take the correct route, do you bring a handline for the descent?

South Face is class 4. Southwest Ridge is class 2-3.
I work at 11am on Sunday and I know you hate early starts, Jim, plus I'm slower than you are. I'm a no go for this time, maybe in a few weeks.

I'm doing this Sunday because I'll be at Flagstaff Medical Center until midnight, and I will be for the next 6 weeks. It is class 4, but it doesn't require rope. If you don't want to descend the section of class 4 on the south face, you can just go down the SE drain.

If you do it again on the 20th or 27th keep me posted. I'd like to hit it with that spire one too.

I'll reschedule it for the 20th. I might still go this weekend, but it gives people more time if they want to come out on Sunday, 9/20.

I'll be in for that unless Stefan changes Mazzie Peak to that day.

If you want to do Morning Glory we should do start that around 10 to 1030, and then take a lunch and do Capitol. That way we need not worry about being locked in the Soldier Pass TH.

Definitely Interested, I have to see if I can make Sunday work with my schedule.
I should be able to keep up with you boys, I believe Joe can speak for my pure determination based skills.
IE: I will give 100% until someone forces me give up (which usually only happens on overhung "5'11 type" routes)
-Should I bring any of my gear in case we find a short cuts or is the area bolt/anchor free?
-Estimate for duration, temps & water?... (or Joe can just pm me with the specifics)

Class 4 scrambling on sandstone.

I'm a off & on climber and I get scared down-climbing from the near top of Bell Rock... I think I'll give the class 2/3 route a try when it cool down a bit more.

None of the routes, MG or CBSF are that hard, and you won't need gear to do them. You can rappel off MG, so bring a 60 M rope to do that. You can do a 2/3 variation to ascend or descend CB. It meets/ leaves above the view point on the CBSF route. Who is interested in MG? We can meet at a spot, like the McDonald's on 89A, around 10 to 10:15 to climb that, then break fro lunch after or during, and do CBSF in the afternoon.

It looks like no one wants to do Morning Glory Spire. If you want to do it, post here or PM me. I want to do MG before Capitol due to the MG trailhead gate closing at 6PM. If no one wants to do MG, lets meet at the Sedona McDonalds between 1030 and 1045AM. If some one wants to do MG, we can meet at the same time and place, and those who want to meet to do Capitol can do so at 1230PM at the same place.

It would be an interesting day to attempt both including rappeling off the spire. I am not nearly as quick, strong or agile as the rest of the group, so the potential to bail at the class 4s without holding up folks is nice from my perspective. I will plan to be at the designated location with some gear and tag along with the group's desires.

Ugh! I couldn't figure out trading days. Looks like I only have Saturdays available for outdoor adventures at least for the next few weeks. Sorry seems like you guys will have fun. I am really interested in this type of hiking... I will watch for when you guys start doing these when the weather cools down.

Hikergirl81 has other plans, sarichter may or may not come. I'll be at Mickey D's 10:30am. I'd like to do Morning Glory. I should forewarn with such a late start time I may fall asleep mid route
