Happy Thanksgiving to all you Hazer's. How many miles do you think it will take to hike off a Thanksgiving dinner?

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it's my big time for hiking in AZ. As usual, I'm cooking a feast for Mrs. big_load's family and whoever else drops in. The turkey is in the oven and the giblets are stewing, so it's almost time for a big walk.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy T-day! We chopped and cooked, and put the turkey in the oven, and then we took off on the bikes, rode about 9 miles, came back, ate turkey. I'm actually at WORK now at my moonlighting job! But had a good day of it.
Hope everyone is having a sweet holiday. I have much to be thankful for.

Apparently hiking out of the Grand Canyon doesn't do it... still almost 5 pounds up.

Hmmmm. If all goes well, hopefully Picketpost on Sunday will do the job

. Once again, like Flatiron, RWStorm got assigned the task

.
As I told a few of my friends:
As I was driving into work I heard one of the radio hosts say they want people to call in tomorrow and say what they are thankful for.
Well for me, other than my family, I am thankful for HAZ (thx Teva).
Hiking has become a new phase for me and thank goodness as otherwise I don't know what I would do.
...All the trails I've hiked, all the people I have met and all the places I have been

. I am sure many of you feel the same.
:FG: I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I'll be at the bottom of Grand Canyon, eating Mountain House out of a bag, on Thanksgiving. Hiking down Tanner, and across the Escalante to New Hance. Someone is bringing desserts for everyone, so that'll be our feast. I'm just thankful I'm able to do this!
Happy Thanksgiving!

HEALTH MESSAGE from Maxine
As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of the world, I rapidly realized that I don't really give a care. It's the tortoise life for me!
1. If walking/cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat.
3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4. A tortoise doesn't run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years. And you tell me to exercise??
5. Happy Thanksgiving to the Tortoise who started this thread....and to the Tortoise in all of us.

One glass of wine <YEAH, right>,
A cracker with cheese <ONE CRACKER- R U kidding me?), Three cups salad with diet dressing, Six ounces of white and dark turkey, Half a cup of stuffing <more like a cup>, Half a cup of cranberry sauce, Half a cup of gravy, Half a cup of green bean casserole, Half a cup of sweet potato casserole, A dinner roll, A pat of butter, A slice of pumpkin pie, Half a cup of whipped cream, ...that comes to over 3000 calories. You will need to walk 26 miles.
No pun intended but The Full Dutchman~~~~~TWICE!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the new friends that I have met on HAZ and to all of the HAZ friends I have yet to meet! I too, am thankful not only for my friends and family, but also for one of the few quality sites left in this society where you can share your love of the outdoors with people who share your passion and care about preserving it! Thanks Joe, you Rock! :worthy:
Now, if anyone cares to join me, I'm doing Black Mesa Loop nice and early Friday morning. I do not promise you will burn all of the calories consumed the day before, but you will at least be making room for leftovers!

I have to work on Friday
But am heading out on Saturday. Does that mean I have to do the Dutchman x3 due to leftovers? ;)
