Hey! Im new to this site and planning a hike for let Feb. I hiked Haunted Canyon back in 2006 with my school and it was an amazing place. Im looking to do this hike again in a couple of months but was wondering about the water quality and if the springs run throughout most of the year? I saw lots of stuff on the net about that mine opening back up. Any one recently hiked it? If so, let me know how it was and what i can expect on my hike! Thanks

be sure to pay it forward and leave some thing yummy in the cabin.

Pretty easy hike if you come in from the eastern side, road getting in is more than doable in even a passenger car.. as far as water the tony ranch spring was running last week when i was there, about a quart per minute.. unless it doesnt rain at all between now and then i would bet youll have no trouble with water.. there is a trough at the spring also holding water, a bit heavy on the algae, but nothing a water tab or filter wont cure..

this will give you a better descrip of the overall hike.

I hear there are some old mines in the area? Any one know where they are located in relation to the Cabin or main camping area?

the low the first night out there 12/25/09 was 15 degrees... second night we hung/slept in the cabin, with the wood burning stove going so it was around 30-35 in there through the night.. i dunno about the mines, but there are some cool caves and cliffsides to explore full of coatimundi...
