Humphrey Summit: New big snow on the 24th!

The early forecast for Sunday at 11,493' on the Peaks is:
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 28.
It looks like it will be a good day for Humphrey. Lots of deep new snow, hopefully not too much wind, and conditions should finally be epic. If you ski or board you might want to carry them up to speed your descent. Expect powder, lots of powder! Oh yes, it looks gooooooooood!!

EPIC is definitely a word I would use to describe that. But the only way I'm going up that mountain in that kind of snow depth is via the Agassiz Triple Chair.

Oh, ya big baby!
I'm hoping for a huge dump from the Thursday-Friday storm that produces conditions I've never seen. I want to have at least 5 feet of new snow around 11,000', which is where it tends to be thickest.

I'm trying not to get too excited. I still think it'll end up being disappointing if I hope for too much. My favorite Arizona snow experience was in 92-93 when Heber recorded 52" in 24 hours. That's a lot of snow. I drove up the 260 the next day and the snowbanks on the highway were so high it was like driving in a tunnel.

Yeah, I too don't want to get too anxious and have it be a dud. The last big storm was pretty good, so I'm hoping that with the forecast agreement and the totals we are seeing that things will be substantial by weeks end.

Looks like the peaks largely missed out on the bulk of this round, which went further east. Lets hope for a better showing Thursday...

OK, this is just getting ridiculous. I'd be ecstatic if HALF of this happened!
NWS Point Forecast for Sunrise Mountain, elev. 10,995:
This Afternoon: Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Tonight: New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Thursday: New snow accumulation of 10 to 16 inches possible.
Thursday Night: New snow accumulation of 26 to 32 inches possible.
Friday: New snow accumulation of 24 to 30 inches possible.
Friday Night: New snow accumulation of 10 to 16 inches possible.
Saturday: New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Total Accumulation by Saturday:
75 to 105 inches, or 6'3" to 8'9" !!!
Whereas the same point forecast for Snowbowl at 11,493 is
ONLY 38 to 59 inches.

I am pretty sure that this storm over the next few days will dump 4 feet of snow at least on the peaks. The nws has been right on for snowbowls location the last 2 storms so i know they will get it right. Watch.

You probably already saw it, but today the Forest Service issued a closure for the Kachina Peaks Wilderness until further notice due to extreme avalanche danger. Don't want anybody gettin' busted!

Good point! Beside, we can't get very far outside of the valley this weekend since most of the highway to the north & east are closed...
