For about the last month or so I've been wearing my Tevas almost exclusively (I believe the model is the "guide" I think?) and am considering them for hiking...I've read Joe's article a couple of times since discovering HAZ and have always been interested in the idea...however, I've seen both the Wraptors and another brand by the name of Bite. I think I remember Sande J wearing a pair.
I'm curious what people may have to say about either of these sandals.

I have the Bite sandals...apparently this company makes golf shoes too..so I guess the connection would be the good grips on the soles....they have a toeguard too, which is nice...one of the reasons I started hiking in these is I could never find any boots that were comfortable and warmer temps always make my feet swell and they would be killing me after a few hours... I finally found approach shoes that I love and they are TEVA..I was so happy when I found that they made actual shoes and boots now...and they are the best thing that has happened to me in hiking. Boxy toe...great comfort, just like the sandals. The hiking shoe is called the "Quest"..it is available at Popular. They also make a mid and a high cut boot which I have only seen on their website. Soon to be in my closet.
The only drawback to the sandals is support....if you have strong ankles and calves and train for that then it shouldnt be a problem. I found my ankles and the soft tissue on the top of my feet aching abit after long hauls in the sandals. Oh yeah, your feet get real dirty and dusty and your ankles may get a bit dry......other than that, you shoudl have happy feet.

The wraptor's I've looked at are about 89 bucks, the Teva shoe/boot my wife bought were about the same price...don't know what Bites cost.
