Rincon Mountain Backpack...

I posted a 3 day backpacking trip in the Rincon Mountains with the Arizona Backpacking club for June 4-6. I'm limiting it to a pretty small group for this one, partly because it's a tough hike, and partly because I want it to be a quiet, wilderness kind of affair (rather than a big, happy, loud, social hike).

I'm looking at starting at Miller Creek TH, camping at Happy Valley Saddle, hitting Rincon Peak, camping at Manning or Spud Rock, then heading down Douglas Springs. If any o' y'all wanna join in the fun, or think perhaps you might want to join in the fun but aren't really sure, then give me a holler. I'll figure out a way to work it out.

I'll see where my knee is by then but I've been wanting to camp at HV again for a while...

Unless something goes horribly wrong between now and then, I'll be there...

No porters, no sherpas...unless of course you can bribe some young, strong, vaguely stupid thing from the University to carry your stuff for you. Heck, I'd even chip in as long as it's a he and he's built like a...

Well. Whatever.

This would be a Friday morning departure - since the plan is to get all the way to Rincon Peak on Friday.

Looks like I might be entertaining an alternate ending for this one. If it's actually going to hit 105 on Sunday, i don't want to be coming out Douglas Spring. Too blinking pumpkin hot. Maybe come out Turkey Creek and head back to cars at Miller...

Yes, well...we'll have to see how the rest of the week shapes up. I smashed some steel into my bad knee during my "Vacation" this last weekend... :(

Reschedule on this one by popular demand, not to mention my own sanity. That is, as long as the permits are available, which I don't think will be a problem. That'll put us leavin' early Friday morning the 11th. Still planning on sticking to the proposed itenerary - though the option for hiking out on Turkey Creek is certainly there for those who are inclined to avoid miserable heat... :D

I'll go either way. If we leave early enough it might not be quite as awful on DS if we make it through that high chaparral and into the area closer to the falls before noon or 1300...

Yay! Temps are supposed to be down more than 15deg from last week! :y:

Now it looks like I won't be a Wendy-puddle when this is all over - maybe just Wendy Jello...
