R rated hike?

So this past Saturday, late afternoon, my foresome of hikers heads down the Bell Trail after a long day of hiking various Sedona trails....after about 3/4 of a mile, we take a spur trail down to the creek...it's the spur trail that goes past the burnt out remains of a big tree...anyway...we get down to the creek and cool off...there were two other guys swimming in the deeper pool...
After we'd been there a bit, I got restless and started to explore the area, following the creek...just past the two other guys the creek opens up to another area where you can hang out...I notice a beach towel and then a woman stands up, and well, she wasn't wearing much. We were about 100 yards apart, but nothing was left for the imagination.
This was my first encounter of this type here in AZ...got me wondering...
Anybody else experience an R rated hike?

No, but once Randy reads this, I have a feeling the Bell Trail will be put on our short list!

If you hurry you guys can probably jet over there before sundown
That was funny Mike! (poor Randy)
I'm pretty sure I mentioned my "Boyscout" encounter at fossil creek before so I'll spare the icky details.

I've run into naked people many times at my "secret place" as well as at the verde hot springs and at the swimming holes on wet beaver creek (insert joke here).

Verde Hot Springs always. I remember the first time we went up there we came upon an elderly gentleman about 80 or so. My poor daughter was only 13 at the time. She hasn't expressed any desire to go back

Maybe it's not so secret after all.
Once while walking off trail, on a date no less, we stumbled upon a couple that were, um...indisposed...and didn't really notice us. We left in a hurry.
I have run accross a small number of "interpretive" sunbathers at various locations as well.

When I was living in DeKalb, Illinois, attending grad school, I was on a ride and thought I'd check out a newly developed bird sanctuary...I locked my bicycle up and noted that there was only one motercycle in the small lot, no cars...hiked down the crushed limestone path to the birding platforms and wham...on top of the highest platform, in plain view were the owners/riders of the motorcycle. They were wearing boots. They were...attached...but noted my arrival...they waved, without missing a "beat" (other words came to mind here, but I'll leave it at beat)...I waved back and turned around and headed back to the lot...

I've seen folks in their birthday suits in the canyon many times. The place seems to inspire people to take their clothes off. One time on a river trip we rounded a bend to see half a dozen male persons (I hesitate to call them gentlemen  ) with big moons pointed our way.
This is a rhyme we used to chant at the babysitter when she tried to get us to quit running around the house in the alltogether:
It's no sin to take off your skin and dance around in your bones!

Naked in the Woods is strictly G rated. Only ocassionly do John and Heather Varley mention nudity. It's a great site, Heather is a talented writer.

Mary I think you've found a catchy slogan for the GC!

I'm gettin' pretty excited myself as I think they hit the trails again this weekend...

New journals will surely follow! :P

Now all those e-mails asking about high power cameras makes sense

I've only seen nudity at hot springs. There was a group at the Verde River hot springs when I went there. The two girls had dropped their tops but the guys were totally in the buff. There was a second group who arrived when I did. That group included a couple of 13/14 yr old girls. The second group did not disrobe. I kept my short on for bathing out of respect and courtesy for the second group.
Now when I went to the San Fransico hot springs with my brother and sister in law we shucked our clothes, but we had the springs to ourselves.

Does anyone remember the public access show "Naked Arizona"?
I stumbled across it one day while surfing (probably 10 years ago now) - it was on the public access channel. I'll never forget it - some dude would come on camera and talk about the trail he was going to show us (sans shirt - but you could only see him from the chest up). The camera fadded out and the next shot you saw was this gorgeous scenery with a naked dude hiking away from the camera, in nothing but boots.
Frightening.
I only ran across it one other time - but man did we ever get a laugh out of that.

What all gets substituted with "pina colada"? Sometimes I can't tell what someone was trying to say ("sans pina colada"??)

Yeah I got sick of the on slaught of rude sandal & trekking pole comments so I gave 'em something they could really laugh at
I remember that show Olesma. All I remember are his boots, which is fine by me!
Pina Colada - "what'd ya get if you drink to much"

Hiking the West entrance to Aravaipa I've come across a few nude campers. Heck, I've done nude kayaking before (pretty interesting), and I'm surprised I didn't get caught at Fossil Springs in January (when my current baby was conceived).

I don't think I've ever been to the Verde Hot Springs and not found a nude bather. This phrase always comes to mind as I'm paddling past "Free up the little guy, let him flap in the breeze" (from The Fisher King)
