PLANS HAVE CHANGED. This trip is being postponed until temps drop, so it's going to happen in the fall.
Going to do a loop on Mother's Day weekend (since I'm not a Mother

). Looking to go from Tortialla Flats TH (yes, I will get us there in the 4Runner) south on Peter's Trail then loop around through La Barge Canyon and back on Hoolie Bacon Trail. I have never been on any of these trails, so I don't know what's up. But I have been through this area on the JF Trial, so I know the landscape. I will be doing this as an overnight and calculate mileage at about 15 miles total. Shouldn't be to strenuous....so come along!

definitely interested, we'll see whats going on with my finals and getting ready to leave for the summer at that point in time, so its too early to commit, realistically I should be in as all my classes are easy this semester.

Update on this hike. I have had more time to study the map and the Hiker's Guide. most of this loop is listed in the Hiker's Guide to the Superstions (Trip #41). I do not plan to partake in the off-trail route from Horse Camp Basin over to Peter's Trail like the book shows (I will be doing this in a different trip), I am going to continue down the Hoolie Bacon trail all the way to the Red Tanks Trail and around through La Barge Canyon and back on Peter's Trial. I calculate total mileage at about 16.1. There is going to be come over grown cat's claw trail...and some searching for trails. But it should be a very nice overnighter in the interior of the Sups. The ideal camping spots would be some place in La Barge Canyon (La Barge Spring, Musc Canyon Spring or Charlebois Spring).

The catclaw used to be ferocious! Seems like Steve, Kurt, Joe or Hank did some cutting back out there recently?

Hoolie is Bad past Horse Ridge, the part of Red Tanks you're going in isn't too bad. Peters isn't that bad catclaw wise, just very faint.

I'll have to think about this one....might be to much catclaw for me. The winding road makes me puke in the back of the 4Runner too....Dirt4dinner loves it when I puke all over his pack!
