My 75yr old Dad lives and works in Yosemite. He said he'll deliver me to any trail head (within reason) and do some food drops for me if I need them. What I'm thinking is doing an 8 day hike in mid July that doesn't require some insanely hard to get permit or lottery to get on the trail. Something that ends in Yosemite that may have some road access halfway trough for resupply. I'm thinking somewhere around 60 or 70mi. long so I can stay a day or two if I find some excellent spots.

Any suggestions?

"If" you find some excellent spots? Finding spots that aren't excellent, that will be the hard part! Think about entering from the Hoover Wilderness northeast of Yosemite near Bridgeport - there are numerous trailheads that will be easier to get permits than if you start in Yosemite. Some will have quotas during that time period, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Then pick a route down to Tuolumne Meadows, where you can re-supply if you need to. Then wander on down to the Valley, the Vogelsang area into Little Yosemite Valley would be great. Or you could head on down to the southeast part of the park that generally sees less traffic. The opportunities are endless, especially if you're willing to go off-trail some. Steve Roper has a great book called "Sierra High Route" that describes off-trail, above-treeline hiking through this area, the best way to avoid crowds and see premium wilderness. Enjoy!

I was checking out coming from the north and Tuolumne seems to be a reasonable re-supply point for any hike. I decided to come from the south out of Wawona viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5055
I already took the vacation days off from work and secured the Wilderness Permit for the trail head. Most of the Yosemite trail heads in July are booked solid for the whole month of July. Trying to depend on the "day of" line seems out of the question so I had to opt for a less traveled trail head. It will be 76mi. of epic hike.
