Anybody know any good books on edable and medicinle plants of Arizona deserts?

My fave is "A Natural History of the Sonoran Desert" by the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Very readable

It's a great start. Somehow I always need another plant book, and I still haven't really learned anything.

My younger son knows a lot about that stuff, but he is working (as a paid backpacker.... You know, life is tough in these times...) and so I will not be able to talk to him very soon. He had told me about this one book. He said it is a really good book but that unfortunately the author died because of eating a plant--I guess he was experimenting. At least, that is what my son heard...

Are you just looking for books on plants or the desert in general?

Well, plants of the desert. I know the general stuff, but would like to learn what the Apache and Navajo used for medicine and stuff to eat. Read a book on the Anisazi that used irrigation to water crops... I cant remember the name of the book. I will have to check into that. Kind of into the spiritual Native American stuff.
