My fave is "A Natural History of the Sonoran Desert" by the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Very readable

My younger son knows a lot about that stuff, but he is working (as a paid backpacker.... You know, life is tough in these times...) and so I will not be able to talk to him very soon. He had told me about this one book. He said it is a really good book but that unfortunately the author died because of eating a plant--I guess he was experimenting. At least, that is what my son heard...

Well, plants of the desert. I know the general stuff, but would like to learn what the Apache and Navajo used for medicine and stuff to eat. Read a book on the Anisazi that used irrigation to water crops... I cant remember the name of the book. I will have to check into that. Kind of into the spiritual Native American stuff.
