Have any HAZ members been to Hidden Lake in Montana? I have seen pics and I now have a fasination with that place. It looks so isolated and peaceful. Was just wondering a little bit about the place.

It is located in Glacier National Park in the Many Glacier Section, access off of the Going-To-The-Sun-Highway in GNP at Logan Pass Visitor Center. I had plans to hike there on 7/3/08, but there was 15 feet of snow at the Logan Pass Visitor Center, so we did not make it.. igallery/image_page.php?id=3542

I just saw this post. We were in Glacier NP late last summer on a road trip en route to Banff and Jasper. We did the Hidden Lake hike and it was a great hike that wasn't too long. I have posted a few pictures for you. The area is phenomenal and we got some of my favorite family photos on that trip. We did the hike with our two very small children, which we carried. We hiked to the overlook area.

You start at the Logan Pass Visitor's Center parking lot and the first half of the hike is uphill, most of which follows along a boardwalk. I believe the hike is only about 3 miles round trip, though there is plenty of exploring that can be done in the valley surrounding the lake. Because of the close proximity to the visitor's center and the presence of the boardwalk, there is a lot of traffic on the first half of the trail. You would definitely want to plan to do it in August or later to avoid the disappointment that Grasshopper experienced, as the snows can dampen plans in that NP into July, especially at the higher elevations like Logan's Pass. There is quite a bit of wildlife in the area and they definitely are not afraid of people. There is a great overlook area just over the saddle as you head into the valley and you can get some great shots of the valley including the lake. I highly recommend this hike, though it was just a taste of what we experienced up in Banff and Jasper NP

Thank you for the advise. I plan on doing this trip in the near sometime. I have been fasinated with this spot ever since I saw pics for the first time.
