Almost-loop hike from Pine Trailhead up to Mogollon Rim and back down: Highline #31 - Donahue #27 - FR218 - West Webber #228 - Geronimo #240 - Highline #31 - Pine View #28 - Pine Canyon #26. About 16 mi roundtrip, elevation gain 1900 ft.
The following GPS Track for the loop can be used:
Geronimo Super Loop, and Highline Trail must be easy to follow using trail signs. Some of the trails on the way are former or present forest roads that must allow to keep a moderate pace with roundtrip time within 7-8 hours.
Leaving Deer Valley at 8:45 am, going via Fountain Hills.

Sorry for the beginner's question but do we meet in Phoenix or at the trailhead?

As you wish, but I think it makes more sense and is more environmentally preferable

if we meet in Phoenix and carpool. We can discuss details by PMs if you commit to go.

It's not my hike, maybe next time. Tried to get you on some 9pm-3am hikes and you didn't like those either

I have been up for hours now trying to recover photos from my formatted memory card on my camera. I just bought it and accidentally formatted the SD card which deleted all the pictures I took today of my 2 year old nephew at his birthday party.
I have to take the camera to Best Buy tomorrow to see if I can manage to recover such PRICELESS photos. I am so bummed!!!
I won't be at the hike. I know this is last minute notice, but I was the ONLY person to take photos on my nephew's birthday and my sister in law is adamant about me going to Best Buy first thing in the morning.

If you reformatted the sd card, then you probably lost the pics for good. It sucks. I accidentally did it once down at havasupai on the hike out, lost every picture I took. Still bummed about it.

A recommendation from someone who's gone through the same thing: develop a ritual. You will eliminate problems like this if you do the same thing every time. It sounds silly, but it works for me. For example: for my hiking photos I post the triplog first, then upload the GPS route, go through all of my photos and delete the ones I don't want to keep, then upload the ones from the remainder to HikeArizona.COM.
As for the photos you took of your nephew's birthday party, they almost assuredly gone. That sucks, but I bet you'll never do it again! Kind of like locking one's keys in the car. Almost everyone does it once, but very very few of us do it twice.

"Quick format" feature that is implemented in most cameras just recreates the empty FAT on a memory card, it doesn't delete actual data. So if nothing was written on the card after formatting then with an appropriate software you can restore the data.
FreespiritAZ, how did it go?
