There is a recent interview with the now 90-year old Katie on the homepage. (be sure to watch it all the way through to the end) She is both hilarious and heart-wrenching. Her passion about Glen Canyon always brings me to tears, thinking about how I would feel if someone drowned the place I loved the most. She has such a way with words- I could listen to her talk for hours.

Thought I would put this on an Old Thread...The Dam was built before my Time, but seeing in this Short Film what was submerged under those Waters is heartbreaking....Katie Lee is as Feisty as ever...Lorena has nothing on this Woman...
There is Nudity in this Film so if it bothers you don't watch it....This is a pretty Sweet Short Film....

Some amazing historic sights and vistas are displayed in the short video, it's a shame to know that it's now under water..... for what?

She's an independent spirit for sure, read her books and been fortunate enough to sit down with her a couple of times at her home and go out to dinner once. She graciously copied a well known photo of her scaling a sandstone crack that I have in my black and white photo collection. We went over maps, she was a prodigious hiker/ backpacker in the day also. But her spirit is what I most admire; she bows down to no one.

I think that's where the"Desert Goddess" Title comes in....I'll bet she got a lot more Attention back in the Day simply due to her "Methodology" of showing off the Canyon. People heard her Fight once she got their Attention....Too bad it wasn't enough...
