This guy had a booth at the Art in the Park festival a couple weeks ago in Flag. His stuff is pretty cool and definitely unique. http://www.sheerentertainment.com/Gallery.htm

Definitely unique, but a little heavy on those spirits... But, at least it is different.

Man, that's some pretty cool stuff. Very respectable, considering it's all large format film and the effects are "performing art", not digital manipulation.

In the Aug 2010 issue of highways there's a pretty bad manipulated tree shot. It was on the right somewhere around pg 37ish, I don't have a copy to reference.

So are the shadow artifacts part of this guys images or watermarks?

Whoa, that's some memory about the AZ Highways shot. Must have been significant in some way? I've got nothing against digital manipulation, it's just cool what this guy can pull off without using it.

If you click the link that says "about these photos", or something along those lines, he goes through his process to create the images. Pretty interesting.

At the art show, he said that to create the effect he would open the shutter and then run around the field of view with a flashlight and light paint on cardboard cutouts. The "spirits" in his pictures are shadows created from flashing light over the cardboard cutouts.
