Not really a "missing hiker" per say...

Is anyone else closely following the Scott Curley manhunt out here on the Arizona Strip?
Brief summary: Scott allegedly stole a rifle, threatened the Fredonia school, and then headed for the hills when pursued. He ambushed one deputy (killing him) and almost killed the other one, and then headed out to the desert between the Utah Vermilions and the Kaibab Plateau (the eastern Kanab Creek drainages). He apparently has stocks of food, water, and ammo stashed out in the desert, and several have been raided by the cops. Curley is still at large, despite over 300 agents searching on the ground and in the air.

It can be pretty hard to find a man when he dosen't want to be found, and if he knows the area and has food and water stocked, well that just makes it even harder. Hopefully they find this guy before he causes any more trouble.

I've been following it. I hope he's in custody before November.

November is the next time I'll be up that far north, assuming I don't go next weekend. I'm still wondering whether I can do both Humphreys and lower Fish Creek in my available time.

Hope the weather is amenable for you if you are waiting until Nov. It can go either way, as I'm sure you're aware.

I wondered if it was a reference to the guy going nutty around election time?

Yikes, a little TOO close to where my son is living and camping out. Glad it's over with.

I'm glad they caught him. It seems to have been close to more nasty trouble.
