Steeler bye week. 10 miles RT, 1200' AEG. Leaving Mesa at 5:30am. Should be some good fall foliage by then.

Be warned- the last quarter mile or so of the trail to the spring is completely overgrown and gone back to nature (unless the boyscouts do some work before then). You can take the creek up if there's not too much water. Awesome trail! I think it'll be awesome for October!

I think I'll be camping up on the rim that weekend. I might find a way to meet you guys. I'll have to put my brain to work.

Sounds good, let us know. We should be at the Geronimo TH by 7:30am at the latest.

Controlled burning taking place above the Rim. May be smokey during certain times of the day.

I think I'm gonna have to cancel. I can't figure out a convenient way to get from where I'll be camping on the rim down to the Geronimo TH. Unless I decide to drive up there separately-- I'm out.

I am now actually 50/50 for this hike. a week ago Saturday i got a pain in my lower back and into my hip. My chiropractor says it's a disk. The last 3 days its been acting up a bit. Going up and down the stairs in my home is a chore right now and jogging is impossible. I won't cancel yet, but I want to give a heads up to anyone else before they hit the commit button. If things shape up by the end of the week, I'll give updates.

Ouch, you got that pain in the back, about a weak back.
Hope you can hit the trails soon.

I'm probably in the 60/40 range for making this. I think some Vitamin IB that morning will definitely help. At the very least, I'm likely to make the drive up and push thru as much as I can, barring a setback up until then.

good luck... I bet you'll be ok. Webber Creek is actually a pretty easy hike. If you want more tree cover and less exposed jeep road hiking, you might also think about taking the Turkey trail down the rim to East Webber-- the mileage isn't much different and you'll get to hike down and back up the rim.

I did East Webber and Turkey Trail 1.5 years ago. Gotta do the trails I haven't done yet. I took an ibuprofen today for the first time in several days and feel great right now. Its later in the day that it starts to act up. so hopefully this is looking better and better. Just need some people to commit.

Just for clarification, the East Webber Tr#289 is what Joe calls HAZ hike description- "Webber Creek". The West Webber Tr#228 (less exposure) and the Turkey Tr#217 (more exposure) are the two trails that go up to the Mogollon Rim and form a loop hike if at the rim top you also include hiking on Milk Ranch Point Road.

Is The Stiller planning on wearing the new costume he's sporting in his avatar?

@Jim Lyding
Show up and find out!
I'm thinking I'm about 90% good for this one. Back is still a bit tight, but much better than before.
