Blissful ignorance in the dark

So on the way to the lake and Butcher Jones Saturday night with my friend Bob, he asks me if I want him to buy me some beef jerky. I politely decline as I had some in my camera bag already from my last hike.
We get out there and I get a little hungry around 11pm so I get it out and dig around for a big piece and then eat it. I remember saying to myself, that's odd I thought I got the spicy kind, this is kind of bland. So the next reach in, I grab a couple more big pieces and start chewing, and still it wasn't that great so I stopped after I had finally finished those. Of course I did my usual meet gum thing and chewed the last chewy unchewable parts for well over an hour later.
I'm reading in the morning, eating breakfast on Monday, and I notice the bag of beef jerky on the table that I had unloaded the day before. This is what was left of the bag of beef jerky that I ate in the dark.
Good thing I didn't accidentally eat the desiccate package!

It's all good. You're still alive, aren't you? Did you hallucinate?

Big_load when you go to rinse out your mouth just don't mistake your toothpast for Preparation H!
Did that one morning!
Great way to wake up!

As a young puppy, Kai ate two of the desiccate packages once (silica gel). Took him to the vet. No problem. You wouldn't have been any worse off than eating that beef jerky. An upset digestive system may occur, but might not. Drink some extra water and you'll be fine.
And I'm really happy that it turned out to just be some gross jerky. I was expecting some insects or kids science experiment or something.

I always look at my food before I eat it now. There was a time I'd eat sunflower seeds still with the shells on, just crack them in my mouth and spit the shells out. Ate about half a bag before getting tired of that and started cracking them open with my fingers instead. Imagine my surprise and disgust when I realized that along with the seeds, I'd been chowing on these little orange worms as well. Had just gotten the bag at a gas station the night before, too. Now I only buy the pre-shelled seeds and give them a full inspection before digging in.

extra protein!!
I imagine there are a ton of food horror stories out there. I found half of a petrified cockroach in a bottle of parsley... of which I had been sprinkling on my food for months!! GROSS.

Congrats you have almost surpassed my dog in culinary diversity.
That was truly awful looking.

Had no problems from it. No hallucinations either. Now the 2008 inhaler I unknowingly hit last month on the rim- a different story.

Most foul! I've actually come across a couple of packages of moldy beef jerkey lately. They were even different brands. Maybe I need a check twice chomp once rule
