That is good nooze since I already had D'Backs vs Giants ticks. Although I still find it difficult to get all twiterpated over millionaires arguing with multi-millionaires. I'm glad they figgured something out.

There are a lot of economical reasons and fan related reasons why I'm glad they got a deal done. But it is still a crappy deal that doesn't accomplish much and in the end really doesn't have any teeth.

Deep down inside - I think I actually wanted a strike. I would have loved for the whole house of cards to come crashing down on that stupid player's "Union" (which I cannot regard as a true union - unions are formed of people who work hard to get a better living for their families - the baseball "union" is a bunch of spoiled millionaires - I mean really, they raised the MINIMUM salary to $300,000.00 per year - that isn't union - that's highway robbery). Sorry - but I sided with neither on this one. Owners are greedy morons, and players are greedy morons. Neither is "entitled" to anything.

All this agreement has occasioned is a raise in ticket prices for attending a game (too high already). Baseball was the last of the professional sports I could afford to take my family to. In a couple of years I won't even be able to do that.

Sorry - feeling a little bitter about the whole thing.

Im glad they are not striking, if they did, it would have ruined baseball for a lot of fans.... I enjoy the D-backs and have been to a few games. I dont really follow other teams. But since Ive never lived in a city with a pro team, I find it somewhat exciting that we are doing so well ( again )

I'm just happy for my pilot. He and his wife had reservations at a nice resort and tickets for the game at BOB. He was afraid he would miss the game over the strike but all is well for him now.

I was a big football fan in as late as the early '80s but when they went on strike then, I never watched another game. That has been 20 years now. How time flys. I never could sit down and watch baseball though.

I'd have to say that a Union that gets it's members a minimum salary of $300,000 is doing pretty well...at least compared to what my teacher's union is doing for me.

I have no problem with the players going after more cash...wouldn't any of us do the same? I mean, if we knew we could make more, wouldn't we shoot for it? The players union does exactly what unions are supposed to do...watch out for their members....sure, they play a game, but, there certainly is a demand for their "product".

I think it's funny how baseball fans on tv were moaning about how the players are bums because they're looking for more cash...but these fans are the one's buying the tickets. If people really wanted to make a statement, they'd stop going to the games.

As a longtime Chicagoan, I can understand the lure of baseball (though I think it's a staggeringly boring game)....the bleachers at Wrigley...noone really cares about the game orwhat the players are making when they're in the bleachers! That's something BOB and the D-Backs can't touch, World Series or not.

I agree that the players should be entitled to get whatever they can. If some owner is stupid enough to pay a single player a salary that is higher than the team's net worth - well, that's their problem not mine.

My "Moron" comment comes from the animosity they are generating. It is happening slowly, but you will note that attendance has been declining year by year for a long time. Prices for attending a game have been steadily climbing for years as well. And it's not just in Baseball - but in every sport. The owners and players keep moving up the $ ladder - and so far they have been successful in sliding it past the fans - we're still paying to go to games after all. But baseball is the first of the sports that is showing signs of strain on the fans. Basketball will probably be next, then hockey, then football.

There will simply come a time when they have pushed the fans too far - it will be too expensive to attend a game, and the greed and egos will be so huge that fans simply won't be able to relate with or even like players any more. Granted, there will still be the occasional player who will rise above it all, but even now they are becoming increasingly rare (at least in the public attention - scrub players may still be "down to earth" but we never hear about them).

The sports world is an industry - and they have done very well for themselves. But they are pricing out the average Joe Fan. It is becoming increasingly a corporate venture - just look at the Suns. There are hardly any really good hard-core fans there anymore. The "Madhouse on McDowell" has gone the way of the Dodo. Now it's the "Corporate Social Downtown." Just pathetic - and hardly any fun to go to a game anymore.
