But it took nearly an hour before rescuers could reach Boardman because the goat stood over him as he lay motionless on the ground, according to the Seattle Times.
"The mountain goat was terribly aggressive," Jessica Baccus, who was hiking with her family, told the Times. "It wouldn't move. It stared us down."
This would be an instance where I would likely use my gun. I would take no joy in killing a goat, but an attacked/injured hiker is a good reason to get involved. Not sure it would have been safe with it hovering over the hiker though.

I would probably have done the same thing. You'd need to make sure you got a clean shot, absolutely...

Makes me wonder if the park service at the Grand Canyon will be doing something about "The Stalker", the ram on the south rim that is not afraid of hikers on the Bright Angel.

Well, that is a sheep on the BA, and the other was a goat. Different species, but probably equally capable of hurting someone.

Somewhere I have a picture of that sheep, sitting on a ledge above Bright Angel and staring disdainfully at the passing hikers!

GO AHEAD, MAKE MY DAY.

No it is not photo shopped and I did not shoot the sheep. I did not post it to my Pecos trip because it was a tad politically incorrect. I did e-mail it to my hunter friends and told them that the hardest part of hunting bighorn sheep is packing the body out.

This looks like it's more about self-preservation than 'sport'.

Ideally, for sure. But, I think if I was the one standing this close to three rams, I'd much rather have the gun... just in case.
