Central Arizona Mountain Rescue Association will be conducting a 2-day Wilderness First Aid Certification course on January 29 & 30 (Saturday / Sunday), 2011.

This two day/16 hour course provides classroom and hands-on instruction on how to prevent and respond to medical situations while in the backcountry.

If you venture into the backcountry you are the first responder and your response to a medical situation can truly make the difference between life and death.

Class size is limited to provide a beneficial student/instructor ratio.

I think I am in -- Need to wait for my Jan travel schedule to settle a bit -- I think I am almost a 100%. This will be good skills to become familiar with

This is right next to my house practically so we may have to put together a HAZ gathering of some sort. As we get closer to the event, I could put something together including a little hike up at Lookout....

Yes, in 2011 there will be a Wilderness First Aid class every other month at the North Mountain Visitor Center. As you already know, January 29,30 is the first one, then March, May, July, etc. . The exact days are being firmed up right now. Check http://www.mcsomr.org/solo.html in a few days to see the exact days.

If (when) the class fills up or we're unable to make those January dates, will there be another class scheduled in the near future?

For those who are wondering if there will be more wilderness First Aid (WFA) courses if they are unable to make the January class, yes. We (CAMRA) plan to conduct 6 WFA courses in November at the North Mountain Visitor Center.
