Looking for hikers who care about preserving the Eagletail Wilderness and other areas on the west side. I am part of a group that is sponsoring a hike into this area on Dec. 11th, beginning at 8:00 AM. We will meet at the BLM Kiosk on Centennial Rd. (general vicinity of I-10 and Harquahala Valley Rd. (I'll provide more details on how to get there if you indicate interest.) It will be approximately 6 miles round trip (out and back) on fairly level terrain. Spectacular views of rock formations and a great petroglyph display.

To sjking,

This looks interesting. I enjoy hiking in western AZ--have hiked in Muggins Mtns, Gila Mtns, (Yuma area), and the Kofa. Unfortunately can't join you this weekend.

Thanks for posting! Hang around more often, you might get more responses, though.

I won't be able to hike this Sat, but I am interested in preserving the Eagletails...I spend a lot of time in the nooks and crannies of those mountains. Is there something particular that is threatening the Wilderness? I am aware of the possible wind power plant that could be slated to the east of the Wilderness.

Was this the hike with Craig Weaver? If so, I knew about it but couldn't attend. Arizona Wilderness Coalition (ie me-lol :D ) is leading hikes and monitoring the area this winter. Would love to collaborate on anything you might have in mind.

Best,
Aleah
