Looking for a geode, anyone have any information?

There's some geodes on the way to Powers Garden, on the last big uphill before the never-ending 3/4 circle. Somebody left a few in the cabin, too, so they may be more widespread than that.

bunches were scattered around on a mesa top out in Big Bend, above LaJitas... last time I hiked there (1981)... :D

This book might have information. I'd thumb through it but it's packed away. Can't remember if there were any good geode sites listed, interesting nonetheless. Pretty sure you can look through it at any major book store like BN.

I don't know of any places to get real geodes in AZ... Around the Payson area there is a spot that there is kindof geodes.. they are called AZ geodes or Brain stones... They in alot of places but one easy place is at the control road and were the bridge is at Whispering Pines found a website about it..

There are Opal and Chalcedony geodes west of lake pleasant. Minerals of Arizona, by Neil R. Bearce. I picked it up at wide world of maps. Several sites are listed. There are thousand's of broken geodes, on the ground, at the pleasant site.

I found a lot of geodes at the end of Box (Pima) Canyon on my Black Hills Arch hike.

Houston Mesa Road, just outside of Payson. After 2nd water crossing on the right. Look for the red color dirt.
