If so our son has one that is freaking huge.

I just saw a couple of those in my friend's bathtub. I know, that sounds funny. But she was taking care of them for a family member, and it was too cold out in her yard for them. They were not that big, but they were bigger than regular desert tortoises. And I hear that the G&F dept. has a hard time keeping up with getting them out of the wild when people release them. They really get big.

When our son's "Brutal" escapes from the yard, they have to use a dolly to bring him back. His hole is big enough for a male adult to crawl down and 10 feet deep and he's still growing....

And I don't suppose he chases the neighbor's cat.

No, but it's interesting sitting in his living room and watching the bbq and chairs on the patio moving around.

I like turtles. I've had a couple of desert tortoises, and used to keep a lot of water turtles when I was a kid. If I could have had one of those Spur tortoises when I was about 12 years old, I would have been thrilled!

Well if ya got one when you were 12, you would still have it.
Or actually a zoo would have it.... ;)

I took one to Springerville with me when I moved to that area in '99. He escaped somehow and I never saw him again. If I had a permanent home in the desert, I might consider building a tortoise enclosure and getting one from G&F or whoever it is you can get them from. But you have to have the approved yard set-up first.

Is he the world's first bionic tortoise?

I weighted him yesterday..... 6 1/2 months and 83 pds. That pic was last month when he came with me to search for GPSJoe.

You're going to have a pretty big dog in your hands.
