The inner trails on South Mountain can be incredible with Sierra Estrella on the backdrop. Unfortunately it probably isn't happening anywhere this year in the lower deserts. Pray for rain quick, in six weeks it's too hot for germination in the valley.

This is a link (I hope it works) to the abc morning show about wildflower hikes in Arizona. Arizona Highways magazine is featuring an article on scenic wildflower hikes, but the editor mentioned that wildflower seasons are kind of unpredictable. An idea to consider might be taking some photos at the Desert Botanical Gardens if the wildflowers decide to hide from us this year. They have a wildflower exhibit which they give the right conditions and water to flower. I was out at McDowell Regional Park last week, and noticed a lot of buds on Brittlebush just about to pop....so that must be a quite a show in and of itself!

Don't know anything about the subject 'cause I live up in Flag, but congratulations on the engagement!

Just found this interesting link this morning. It shows digital photos of some of the current conditions of wildflowers at Arizona State Parks. The only one listed right now is Boyce Thompson Arboretum. They do have a wildflower hotline phone number on this web page! The number is: 602-542-4988. So cool. :)

Here is a link to the desert botanical gardens in Phoenix. They have wildflower reports from the area posted here. The map on this site is a nice feature.
