We are planning a trip in mid-November for a 4 day hike. We would like something that is somewhat remote. We are considering Kofa Wilderness and Supersition Mountain. Any suggestions on the better location and suggestions on trials?

Check out the Reavis Ranch hike in the Superstitions. 4 days would be kind of long for only that hike but there are plenty of side-trips you can make from the ranch area. Circlestone and Reavis Falls are a couple that I know of. That said, before you make the trip, do your best to find out if Reavis creek is running. Has anybody been back there yet this year? It's the only source of h20 for the hike and runs right through the middle of the valley where you'll camp. Temps in Nov are usually primo!

Aravipa may be a little cold in November (since you will be walking in water a lot) but would be very remote and an awesome hike. It looks like the grand canyon, only much smaller and more wildlife.

The canyon is only 10 miles long, but there are 9 side canyons to explore and no maintained trails (main trail is in the creek). BLM owns the land and will only let 20 (I think) people in the canyon per day. You would need to get a permit now since they go fast.

I agree with the Reavis Ranch sentiment. Here is how I would make it a 4-day trip:
Day 1- Park at Roger's Trough trailhead and head up to Reavis Ranch
Day 2- Basecamp at the ranch and spend the day exploring either circlestone or Reavis Falls
Day 3- Head down the Frog Tanks trail and camp at Angel Basin- check out the cliff dwellings
Day 4- Out to your car on the Roger's Canyon trail
I did this hike a few years ago on my birthday and saw antelope and two packs of coatimundi. I also was treated to a meteor shower the first night at Reavis Ranch.

I wouldn't recommend the Kofas unless your are seriously hardy hikers. There are no trails and virtually no water. It is a beautiful area though.

Lizard

Lizard offered a good suggestion for the Superstition Wilderness. If you do not have high clearance or a 4x4 vehicle, then you may want to access Reavis Ranch from the north on trail 109. Aravaipa Canyon is another excellent choice, remote and limited access.
